Council Approves 2022 Operating and Capital Budget

Rocky View County Council has approved a 4% increase for the 2022 Operating and Capital Base Budget, following years of low or no increases.

The Rocky View County operating budget is $197.3 million, with an additional $19.7 million slated for capital projects.

Inflation and the rising costs of goods and services continue to increase pressure on the cost of delivering services within the County. Despite these challenges, Rocky View County continues to be a model of financial sustainability with one of the lowest tax rates in the province.

“This year’s budget shows we are not without our challenges and must react to maintain service levels amid rising costs outside of our control,” says County Mayor Don Kochan. “While we understand any increase may be challenging for some residents and business owners, we believe this is a responsible budget that allows us to deliver on our commitments now and into the future.”

The 2022 budget is guided by the vision, mission, and strategic objectives in Council’s Strategic Plan – Leading Rocky View County: Council’s 15 to 20 Year Strategic Plan, developed in consultation with stakeholders from the community.
