Here is a brief summary of the decisions of Rocky View County Council at the January 8, 2019 Council Meeting. This is a general overview of decisions only. General Business
- Council recognized an international award of excellence the County received for internal and external communications surrounding the move to the new County Hall.
- Council voted to make the following changes to boards and committees:
- The Bragg Creek FireSmart Committee Terms of Reference was amended to increase the term of appointment for members at large and the area councillor from one year to four years.
- The Assessment Review Boards Bylaw was amended to delegate the appointment of the chair from Council to the board, and to create a vice chair position.
- Policy 500 and Procedure 500 (Operation of the Agricultural Service Board) were repealed and replaced with an Agricultural Service Board Terms of Reference. Council voted that the Board’s chair be a councillor, appointed by Council.
- The Policy and Priorities Committee Terms of Reference was repealed and replaced with a Governance and Priorities Committee Terms of Reference that expands the scope of the committee and clarifies presentation requirements for residents, community groups, and other organizations.
- The Committees Bylaw was repealed and replaced with a Boards and Committees Bylaw.
- Council approved the Terms of Reference for a Bragg Creek Hamlet Expansion Strategy to examine amendments to the Bragg Creek Area Structure Plan that would expand the hamlet’s boundaries.
- Council approved the Terms of Reference for a review of the Bearspaw Area Structure Plan.
- Council approved additional time for Administration to respond to a Notice of Motion on High-Speed Internet Servicing in the County. An indication of the funding and time needed to address the Motion will be provided to Council on or before April 1.

- Division 8 – File PL20170064 (06713003), Bylaw C-7837-2018, Re-designation Item: Residential Two District to Residential One District. Considered under the County Plan and the Bearspaw Area Structure Plan. Related to the item above. Approved.
Subdivision
- Division 9 – File PL20180115 (08815008), Subdivision Item: Agricultural Holdings District. Considered under the Municipal Government Act and the County Plan. Approved by the Subdivision Authority.
