Road Widening

Location: Township Road 252 (80th Ave) south of the Watermark Development (view map)

Timeframe: May 29 to July 1, 2017

Description: Work will include road widening to the north side of Township Road 252. Work will involve alternating lane closures for the duration of the project in both eastbound and westbound lanes, with the posted speed being reduced to 50 km/hr. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. This work is being done by contractor Volker Stevin on behalf of Macdonald Watermark Properties. Bridge Culvert Repairs

Location: On Range Road 25 north of Highway 574 (view map)

Timeframe: May 25-31, 2017

Description: The County has contracted Volker Stevin to conduct repairs to the upstream end of Bridge File #76202. The repairs will include reinstalling the upstream bevel which has become detached along with all required sideslope and rip rap repairs. There will be a narrow single lane for traffic remaining open at all times. Motorists can expect minor delays. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. 33rd Annual Kathryn School Walk-A-Thon

Location: Range Road 273 and Township Road 270 north of Kathryn School (view map)

Timeframe: June 9, 2017, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Re-scheduled from May 25)

Description: Traffic disruption for the 33rd Annual Kathryn School Walk-A-Thon. Walk is being coordinated by the Kathryn School. Marshals will be present to assist with traffic. Motorists can expect minor delays. Inquiries can be directed to Nikki Tysowski of the Kathryn School at 403-935-4291.


City of Calgary 12 Mile Coulee Road Upgrade

Location: 12 Mile Coulee Road from Hwy 1A (Crowchild Trail) to Tuscany Way (view map)

Timeframe: May to October 2017

Description: The City of Calgary will be upgrading 12 Mile Coulee Road. Motorists can expect delays. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. This work is being done by EXP on behalf of the City of Calgary. Inquiries can be directed to Simo Kohtankangas at 403-333-0420.

Description: The County has contracted Bridgemen Services to install timber struts in the culvert barrel of Bridge File #80633. During the repairs the road will have restricted lane widths with full lanes being restored after work hours. The location will be signed as a construction zone so motorists should expect minor delays and are reminded to respect all traffic control devices. Fortis Brushing in Bragg Creek

Location: Roads in Greater Bragg Creek Area

Timeframe: May 1 - Fall 2017

Description: Fortis Alberta will be trimming trees around their powerlines in the greater Bragg Creek area. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. Inquires/concerns can be directed to Cindy Disher, Rocky View County Road Operations, at 403-520-3951.


Construction of the West Bragg Creek Trail

Location: Along West Bragg Creek Road (Township Road 232) between Range Road 52 & 54; Mountain View Park; Range Road 54 between West Bragg Creek Road & Elk Valley Drive (view map)

Timeframe: April 1 - October 31, 2017

Description: Work includes tree clearing, construction of gravel trail, pedestrian bridge and guardrail. Motorists can expect minimal delays. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. This work is being done by contractor Bragg Creek Excavating on behalf of The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association. West Bragg Creek Recreation Area Improvements

Location: West Bragg Creek within the Alberta Parks Kananaskis Recreation Area (view map)

Timeframe: March 29 to June 30, 2017

Description: Work includes the expansion and paving of the existing parking area with the addition of multiple recreation area user amenities. The access road into the Alberta Parks recreation area will remain open for the majority of the work, however periodic full closures of the access road within the Alberta Environment and Parks jurisdiction can be expected. Motorists and park users can expect minimal delays. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. This work is being done by contractor Slimdor Contracting on behalf of Alberta Environment and Parks. Southwest Calgary Ring Road Construction Project

Location: Southwest Calgary bordering Rocky View County (view map)

Timeframe: Early 2017 to Fall 2021

Description: No work on Rocky View County roads is expected at this time, however the impact on area Provincial Highways and City of Calgary roads bordering Rocky View County may impact residents of Rocky View County.
